The #MeToo Movement, the Workplace and the Law; Know Your Rights

Spencer Young speaks at EBWN in February #MeeTooWednesday, February 6, 2018 | 11:15am| Grandview Pavilion, 300 Island Drive | Alameda, CA

EBWN invites you to join us for the monthly networking lunch and to hear the keynote speaker Spencer C. Young on Wednesday, February 7th from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.,Grandview Pavilion, 300 Island Drive, Alameda.

Fact: nearly half of all women in the workforce have been sexually harassed.
We all know what it feels like when a line is crossed, but do we know what to do? And when? Despite laws and years of job place training the problem still exists. Many women have felt that the only choice was silence in order to keep their job. After the recent period of speaking out it feels like we are in new territory. Time to learn how to navigate.

EBWN has invited a local attorney advocate to clarify the legal side of the equation, we also invite our sisters to come and give witness. Know your rights and speak out!

About our Speaker

Spencer C. Young is a highly regarded employment, civil rights and personal injury litigation attorney. The majority of his practice is dedicated to representing employees in discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, whistleblower and wage and hour claims. Spencer applies the fundamental principles of warriorship – loyalty and selfless service – to his clients and their causes. We welcome his expertise.

Some topics that Spencer will cover:

  • Sexual harassment and the backlash
  • Gender discrimination in general (wages, promotions, etc.)
  • Workplace medical/disability issues specific to women (pregnancy leave, caregiver leave, etc.)

Don’t miss February’s Networking Luncheon, the beautiful golf course views, robust networking, and opportunities to learn and grow. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday February 7th!

Community Support Contribute to the Opportunity Drawing

At each monthly meeting, we hold an Opportunity Drawing, with all proceeds proudly going to support a nonprofit community service. How it Works — Members and guests are encouraged to to bring a product or offer of services, gift cards, books or other items to be displayed on the Opportunity Table. Value of your donation should be in $25 range. During the meeting, anyone can donate to receive an Opportunity Ticket. The more tickets you have the more likely to win!
