I’m also a certified Medical Assistant Instructor and a member of the National EMS Educators (NAEMSE). I’ve over 10 years experience in the medical field. I am also a certified (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) AFAA Group Exercise Instructor and a licensed Zumba® Fitness instructor (
I’ve been teaching CPR and First Aid for over 5 years. I’ve taught classes with UC Berkeley, Curves, Solar City, Golden State Residential Adult Program (GSRAP), Mount Diablo Unified School District, Bay Area Adult Community Services (BACS), Flexi-Van, Con Sabor Dance and Fitness Studio, and many, many more.

Joan is a wife of 49 years, a Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She is very proud to have grown up in Oakland and attended Oakland public schools in North Oakland at Washington Elementary School, Claremont Junior High and Oakland Technical High School. She has been a homeowner and raised her children in the Grass Valley and Sequoyah Hills areas and is therefore very familiar with all neighborhoods of Oakland. She is also a graduate of California State University, Chico with a BS in Business Administration.
Joan is very active in the real estate and professional communities serving on the board of directors of both EBWN and Women’s Council of Associated Real Property Brokers. She participates in community activities volunteering as an Ambassador and Spokesperson for Donor Network West and, serving on the board of directors for Leaders Are Readers promoting children’s literacy. As a Donor Mom and breast cancer survivor, Joan has created the “It’s Not Just About Real Estate Campaign”, promoting organ donation and breast cancer awareness. Through this campaign a contribution will be made to the Cancer Society or to Donor Network West with each escrow she closes.
Helping with registration to welcome guests and members to EBWN meetings is a natural for Joan because she has been performing similar duties as a hospitality member and a greeter at her church for 20+ years.

Susan Strong is a Business Coach and Strategic HR Consultant with Advicoach, a National Franchise Brand whose parent company has been in business over 32 years, with over 100 coaches throughout the country. After a 30 year career working as a business advisor, mentor and coach to executives, management and employees with companies such as PG&E, Wells Fargo, Genentech, Adaptec, and Logitech to name a few, and was a solo practitioner as an HR Consultant to small to medium sized companies, when in 2009 she bought her business coaching practice. Her passion is to help small-medium sized businesses grow to their full potential and create for the owners, the life that they dreamed of when starting their business. Susan is a 4th generation California and a graduate of UC Berkeley. She currently is a Director on the Alameda Chamber of Commerce Board, President of the Alameda Business Networking group, and on the Business Advisory Board to the business schools at both Diablo Valley College and John F. Kennedy University. Susan has been a board member of the Children’s Hospital Family House and been a volunteer for most of her life with the Oakland Museum White Elephant Sale.
Susan is an avid tennis player, a reluctant golfer, and a lover of local sports teams (especially Cal Football). Susan has traveled extensively, is a voracious reader and is a regular at the Alameda Antique Fair and local estate sales.
