The technology we use to support our business should be our ally. Business technology should do the following:

  • Increase sales
  • Save money
  • Save time

You may have noticed that there is a dizzying array of applications available to business owners both on line and off line, both free and premium. Let’s face it, the sheer quantity of applications, makes choosing one a scary proposition.

Yet, choosing the right application and using it in the right way can increase sales and save time.

Want to improve customer satisfaction, retention and loyalty?

Choose the best application that supports how you do business and/or that improves customer service.

For example, one of my favorite online applications stores online account information. It’s a password management tool.

Ever try finding usernames/passwords you’ve stored in a Microsoft Word document only experience physical pain when your realize that you haven’t updated the document in the last month?

As a web developer, I am often privy to the inner workings of my clients business. For example, to start a marketing project like a web site, clients are often tasked with gathering account information for things like hosting, email, social media, etc. Too often, new clients present me with typed and hand-written account usernames and passwords that were originally stored as Word documents. As you can guess, this information is often inaccurate.

Interestingly, password management tools have been around for a number of years; they are relatively inexpensive and a great way to save time. These powerful and innovative tools work with your favorite browser to store passwords often with double encryption and two-factor authentication. Thus, speeding up the log in process. Best yet, clients can share these passwords with their developer and other team members via the password management tool.

When was the last time you assessed your business applications?

Consider for a moment other ways technology could support your business:

  • If you could save money and increase sales with Facebook ads, would you…?
  • If you could save time by automating your email marketing and boost sales, would you…?
  • If you could get the right information to the right customer at the right time, would you…?

Still, some businesses are slow to adopt technologies that will make their lives easier and provide more value thereby increase sales.
